  • Ashley + Manny – Next / Same Day Edit

Many of our Wedd Lounge regulars will recognize this couple- Ashley and Manny- stylish, collected and sharp (watch their episode here). Nerves can tend to get in the way where weddings and cameras are concerned, but this next-day edit serves as evidence that these two were comfortable and just as much fun to work with on-screen as they were off.

The weather was picturesque for their outdoor wedding, a perfect spring sunshine radiated upon them as they exchanged their vows in two ceremonies- South Indian and Sikh- both occurring on the same day. Ashley was very particular about what she wanted, and it was her desire to ensure the day’s events were efficiently executed and exactly what her and Manny hoped it would be. Ashley had her make-up artist on site as she sported a different look for each ceremony, and given the constraints of time and a few glitches throughout the day- they managed to create two separate but equally stunning looks for her. Manny, was more laid- back and relaxed in his manner. He laughs first and solves later, and it was an attitude that came in handy when he discovered that he had forgotten his pants for his wedding attire on the morning of the wedding. Thanks to the speedy problem- solving skills of their reliable planners, Arora Weddings, they were able to find an alternative that as per Manny’s style, kept his worried bride calm and… you guessed it…smiling.

It was an intimate affair in the most quaint of settings. Ornate structures were set against a backdrop of gorgeous pastel fabrics, with delicate floral touches throughout the venue. They celebrated their union in the presence of close friends and family, and true to the objective of all healthy marriages, even when things did not always run smoothly during the day, Ashley and Manny were heartwarmingly supportive of each other, and smiled together, when it was needed most.

  • Farah + Nadeem – Next Day Edit

Farah and Nadeem were no strangers to us here at Film Style Weddings, as we had worked a few times before with the family, and even had the pleasure of capturing her sister’s wedding. As many times as it has happened to us, it never seems to get old- working with a families such as theirs, relationships are gradually developed that far surpass the professional kind. These families, have a tremendous culture of tradition, support and love and the union between the two, thanks to Farah and Nadeem was heartwarming to behold for all present.

Farah was a delightful fusion between the modern bride, inspired by pinterest and all things crafty, yet there was a strong sense of respect for older traditions and practices that could be seen in many of the finer details as well. She knew exactly what she envisioned, and was extremely efficient in organizing her ideas and ensuring that her partners executed them. Her success in doing so, had a lot to do with being confident at the drawing board, but furthermore, having that confidence in her partners as well. To all brides who are in the planning stage- trusting your partners is key! With Farah as evidence, do your research beforehand and you shall be quite happy with the end result.

Nadeem was the perfect complement to her bubbly attitude. More of a technical
sort, he allowed Farah to work with more of the details and prioritized the fulfillment of her wishes. He was a stylish, friendly and very personable groom. Far from uninvolved, his laid- back attitude was an invaluable asset on the day of the ceremony as it rained much more than expected. While their photo shoot was impacted, his good humor allowed all to pull through with a smile and that is exactly the kind of mindset one needs on one of the most important days of their life. Nothing was going to get in the way. If anything did…it was the constant reminder that this was a couple who were going to be happy, organized and always creative for a very VERY long time. Enjoy!

  • Shamsa + Nabeel – Official Trailer

Shamsa and Nabeel’s wedding was the kind that reminds us of what a marriage really celebrates- a shining new love between two individuals, their families, and a spirited sense of togetherness.

Each of their wedding functions was full of mirth, laughter and excitement- the guests seemed just as happy to be there as the bride and groom were. The decor was colorfully ornate and tasteful each day, and their reception backdrop incorporated a magnificently starry, shimmering fabric- something we are sure will become a trend in evening reception decor.

Shamsa made a beautiful bride, her use of jewel tones and warm hues in each of her outfits complemented her stunningly. Nabeel was a smiling, good-natured groom who wore his happiness as proudly as his wedding attire. Together, they were the picture of a blissful bride and groom, looking forward to their future together and surrounded by the company and well- wishes of their family and friends.

  • Destination Calgary – Emy + Nancy – Wedding Film

In our line of work, we are called upon to do all kinds of weddings. Big, small, extravagant, minimalist…you name it, and we’ve probably had the luck of capturing it. As a result, we have travelled across the world and have bore witness to many unique traditions and cultures. Days can be just as long as nights, jet lag must be quickly overcome and rest between trips is a commodity that is used sparingly. But when you love what you do, you learn more each time you do it- and Emy and Nancy’s wedding in particular, reinforced that for us in a very real and meaningful way.

We were no strangers to this family, as we worked with Emy’s sister four years ago and filmed her wedding celebrations in Nigeria (click here) and Toronto (click here).  A large, lively bunch with a lot of love to go around…we were excited to be a part of their lives once more.  The day before the wedding, we had another ceremony in Vancouver we were working on which ended at 11 pm. A next-day edit needed to be complete by the following day, but our team had a flight to Calgary at 7 am in order to make it to Emy and Nancy’s ceremony. By midnight, we set to work on the next-day edit, completed it by 5 am, rushed to the airport and within minutes were boarding our flight to Calgary. We reached our destination right on time and headed to meet Emy and Nancy as their wedding festivities were scheduled to begin shortly afterward. Thanks to the wizardly film-making skills our team has acquired over the last few years… we successfully managed no sleep in a total of 62 hours. (Loving what you do is definitely key for pulling something like that off. Not to be attempted otherwise.)

Emy and Nancy had a beautiful church ceremony and Nigerian style reception to follow. Their wedding was full of character, replete with colorful splendor, tasteful decor, and fantastic energy. To interested brides and grooms- there are lots of fashionable pieces to keep watch out for as well. Feathers are a big trend this wedding season and no wonder, when they look as gorgeous as Nancy’s feathered skirt does. She looked perfectly divine as she floated down the aisle in the halo of feathers that frothed around her bodice. Emy’s exquisite shoes made it very clear whose special day it was, and it’s always nice to see grooms take as much pride in their wardrobes as brides are wont to do. Red was the color of the evening, and it created a strikingly romantic and bold ambience. Tall crystal vases, glittering chandeliers and sumptuous florals were everywhere one turned. The many fabrics, textures and ornate headdresses donned by the bride and ladies in attendance were also eye- catching in their appeal. Every minute detail was worth noting.

In Emy’s touching address to his mother, we saw a side to him that is often difficult for grooms to reveal. His voice was still that of the little boy who needed the comfort his mother’s love, the gratitude he felt as a young man to her and the eagerness to share a new kind of familial love with the beautiful bride by his shoulder.

When one has the chance to capture life’s moments like that for a living, and forge strong bonds with different people as they experience milestones in their personal journeys…no sleep is not much of a price to pay.

  • Rishi + Jehan – Next Day Edit

The couple featured in this next-day edit both live in New York City, but their wedding festivities bring them to Vancouver, British Columbia where the groom originally resided. Both of them are full-time professionals, with busy schedules and fast-paced lives. Yet each can agree that one can never be too busy for a good time.

As the first few minutes of the clip reveal, there was a fun and upbeat vibe to Rishi and Jehan’s events. Rishi’s younger sister, along with the help of her family and friends, put together an entertaining skit imitating him as well the love story shared between the couple. Colorful in spirit and in detail, from the skit and amusing songs performed to the vibrantly ornate bridal lengha Jehan wore, to the quick stop at the casino the bridesmaids made prior to the ceremony- every minute aspect of the wedding betrayed a playful, creative style.

Two years ago we filmed Rishi’s sister’s wedding, so it was a pleasant little reunion for us as well as many recognized our crew and team. No matter how many times you work with a family however, the mood of the events is largely set by the bride and groom. Rishi is energetic, quick to help and strikingly genuine. Jehan is more demure in nature, with an observant eye and a knack for thoughtfully quick decision-making. Although they came to the wedding drawing board sometimes with two different visions, it must be admired at how she placed her groom’s happiness at the top of her list of priorities. A fusion wedding is always interesting because of the many harmonizing elements that are integrated into the proceedings and the learning experience it is for all who participate. This held true for Rishi and Jehan as well. Our couple’s wedding celebrations not only stunningly fused together two cultures, but two distinct personalities and tastes.

  • Reshma + Sunjay – Same Day Edit

When it comes to wedding planning, couples like to have the luxury of time to coordinate each detail to perfection for their special day. In our experience, 12 to 18 months is usually the happy medium. Ever so often however, we meet individuals who get right down to business- knowing exactly what they want, how they prefer it and when it needs to happen. Enter Reshma and Sunjay.

Within 6 months their entire wedding was planned, every vendor they wanted was hired and they coordinated with us frequently to produce a one of a kind concept film. From the initial stages of our creative brainstorming together, Reshma had a solid vision of what she desired. Energetic, artistic and eager to get started she let us know that she was passionate about Spanish culture and wanted their concept film to reflect that. Sunjay’s primary concern was that his lovely bride got exactly what she asked for, but he was completely trusting, cooperative and excited to see the end result.

Their same day edit was nuanced with artistic edge. The song used was written, composed and performed exclusively for the the couple and same day edit. The video is enhanced by aerial views made possible by our remote-controlled helicopters with cameras beneath them. The couple’s organized style and unique tastes make for a statement wedding. Just see for yourselves.

  • Prashant + Prema – Destination Wedding – India – Official Trailer

Just a few months before their wedding, enthusiastic groom Prashant contacted us all the way from Kohlapour, India to see if it was possible to hire us to film his wedding. Usually, we ask that local couples give us notice at least 9-10 months in advance of their wedding date, so Prashant’s proposal immediately sent us into an exciting trajectory of planning and packing.

It is impossible to travel such distances and not be persuaded to capture the locale, architecture and wildlife. They encompass a multitude of expressions, sights and sounds that are at the very heart of indian weddings. Prashant and his bride Prema, we discovered, were a very romantic couple and there are scenes in this official trailer that embellish it with a particularly appropriate Bollywood feel .

Due to her demanding schedule, we did not have the chance to meet Prema until the wedding, but Prashant was an impressive groom for taking the reins in organizing their ideas, communicating and coordinating with us. When we met him in person, we learned that he was a humble member of a very large family. Many of the festivities, including the wedding ceremony, were held at his home and this added a very loving, familiar feel to the mood of the events.

Together, Prashant and Prema upped the ante to the wedding weekend with a phenomenally choreographed performance at their Sangeet. Contemporary sounds fused with traditional colors and tastes- it was truly a feast for the senses. Now, millions of miles and memories away, here is a taste of that majestic weekend.

  • Alia + Zuhair – Next Day Edit

Every bride wants her wedding to be uniquely special and worth remembering. Some stand out because of breathtaking decor, others for a mouthwatering menu and then there are those weddings that are admired especially because of the love so noticeably shared between the couple and their families.

Alia and Zuhair’s wedding was memorable because it so beautifully encompassed each of these components, if not more.

Alia designed four of her outfits, including that of her wedding ceremony and reception. A hugely successful decision on her part, for she wowed all present. Her desire to do something creative was demonstrated at every event, from menhndi, to sangeet to wedding ceremony.

Ultimately, what made Alia and Zuhair stand out as a couple was their strength of confidence and attention to detail, as this Next Day edit illustrates. Zuhair’s calm, collected demeanor is the perfect balance to Alia’s bubbly personality. In our opinion, this couple had an ideal harmony of elements to make their wedding definitely worth remembering.

  • Destination United Kingdom – Ayesha + Amir – Next/Same Day Edit

As we travel through the world to produce concept and wedding films for couples, one thing that stays consistent in our experiences is the tourist observation.

During the last eight months, we skyped with Ayesha and Amir over a dozen times to get to know their story and personality. Most of our meetings were with Ayesha due to Amir’s busy schedule at work. Not to take it away from Ayesha, who would finish her work late in the morning at the hospital and then will have the energy to talk for almost an hour at 3 am GMT time.

In this world, there are people who take time to open up to others but Ayesha and Amir don’t belong in that category. From our initial conversations, we hit off really well with them. A couple full of life, energy and humbleness.

  • Dillagi – Thank You 2012 Couples // Welcome 2013 Couples

Last year, we paid tribute to our 2011 couples and welcomed our 2012 Couples. This year, we want to continue the tradition and pay thanks to our magnificent 2012 couples as welcome our exciting 2013 couples.

This film is created in tribute to all the couples of 2012 who inspired us to be better everyday.

  • Shayan + Sri – Official Reception Trailer

Working with creative couples has it’s own unique taste. Both Shayan + Sri and their siblings are all singers, one of which has a professional album coming out soon. On top of that both of their siblings have strong interest in film production, dancing and writing. Sri must consider doing voiceover as he has a very distinct and elegant voice.

Shayan + Sri consulted with us sometime ago and upon first meeting, we knew that it would be a treat work with them. Aside from being creative, they are both so soft spoken, calm and humble individuals. They are one of those people who you actually want to listen to and await for their next selection of words.

And the chemistry between them is so silent that it screams nothing but love. We feel that the following Next Day Edit truly captured this personality and their wedding story.

  • Nupur + Arup – Official Reception Trailer

As we are travelling across Canada for a very special project under our parent company Sky Blue Productions, we couldn’t resist but share Nupur + Arup Reception trailer. Currently, we are in Whistler, BC with some beautiful views. We will keep you in the loop about this project but for now enjoy this, before we head to Europe for another special project.

In life everything happens for a reason. And there was a reason, we started to meet Nupur 2 and a half years ago. Between then and now, we have met Nupur at almost a dozen weddings and she was an integral part for some of them. If you are a follower of our work, I am sure you have seen her in countless videos of ours. But among everything the most amazing stat is that she had to be a bridesmaid 27 times before her turn can come.
Nupur officially signed with us last year and her fiancee at the time Arup who works in New York was unable to meet us due to his busy schedule. At last when we did meet him, we realized why Nupur connected with him so well. A Cool, Calm and Composed customer.

Like any story, everything was leading up perfectly to their wedding date until Hurricane Sandy struck on the east coast. As per Nupur herself, “the pandit declared that the wedding has to happen with or without him”, naturally causing a stir. But our groom managed to arrive just a day before the festivities began.
Now that would have been challenging wedding to attend and edit for us too. Our heartfelt congratulations to the amazing Nupur and Arup. And much much thank you for allowing us to cover their special day which reunited us with 10 of our past couples.

You can watch their Next Day Edit here. For their Reception Trailer, we wanted to do something very special for Nupur. Having document almost a dozen weddings where she was a guest, half of those she played an integral part at. Keeping that in mind, we pulled of a surprise for her.
