  • Aseem + Hargunn – Wedding Film

Aseem and Hargunn’s wedding was an example of how a couple can bring their families together in celebration of their life most important event.

Things kicked off a day before with a Sangeet with some beautiful decor from Elegance Decor. They crafted a stage that reflected that of couple’s personality and created beautiful mini lounges for guests to sit and mingle at. The Sangeet was fun filled event with a striking entrance by the bride Hargunn. Aseem on the other did what a true gentleman would do. He made sure that he got out of the comfort of his seat and stage and greeted his bride to be. A very sweet touch and guests loved that. To top it all there were some breath taking skits and performances by families and friends on both sides.

The bride and groom had helpfully complementary personalities. Throughout the entire wedding process, Hargunn was calm and collected while Aseem was brimming with energy, enthusiasm and a little bit of stress:) And that’s because he made sure that not a single shred of it fell on Hargunn’s lap.

Aside from the fact that there were many phenomenal elements to their wedding, not to mention, the beautiful ceremony and elegant reception. Normally Ceremonies start in the morning with reception taking away most part of the evening. In this case, things ran a little different which was nice for a change. The ceremony commenced in the evening as the reception ran way past midnight. Regardless of that every guest was attentive and involved in every step of the way.

Truly deserving of marital happiness and success, we wish Aseem & Hargunn much joy and a continued sense of adventure as they journey through life together.

  • Ritu + Sumit – Official Reception Trailer

    .

Ritu and Sumit are the kind of couple one can’t help but fall in love with- simply by observing how profoundly captivated they are by each other. While their wedding was vibrant, full of colors and traditional sounds, good company and delicious tastes- it was an occasion worth celebrating because of the feel-good, harmonizing energy between the couple.

We have worked with the family on nearly a dozen weddings. Our last with them was 2 years ago, so it was a pleasure to see yet another couple in the family achieve this milestone together.

The pre-wedding festivities were warm, light-hearted and fun; Ritu and Summit truly seemed to share in each other’s shining-eyed excitement. Their creative baraat was an exceptional way to up the ante for the bride’s entrance and nervous as she might have been as she walked through those doors- her eyes never left Summit’s. Their remarkable chemistry undoubtedly provided a most satisfying ambience for the ceremony.

Their wedding was full of character, and the atmosphere one of love. Together, Ritu and Summit were celebrated not only for the spectacular time they provided their guests, but for the privilege all present were bestowed in seeing love at its best- youthful, fresh and passionate.

  • Farah + Nadeem – Official Reception Trailer

Farah and Nadeem were no strangers to us here at Film Style Weddings, as we had worked a few times before with the family, and even had the pleasure of capturing her sister’s wedding. As many times as it has happened to us, it never seems to get old- working with a families such as theirs, relationships are gradually developed that far surpass the professional kind. These families, have a tremendous culture of tradition, support and love and the union between the two, thanks to Farah and Nadeem was heartwarming to behold for all present.

Farah was a delightful fusion between the modern bride, inspired by pinterest and all things crafty, yet there was a strong sense of respect for older traditions and practices that could be seen in many of the finer details as well. She knew exactly what she envisioned, and was extremely efficient in organizing her ideas and ensuring that her partners executed them. Her success in doing so, had a lot to do with being confident at the drawing board, but furthermore, having that confidence in her partners as well. To all brides who are in the planning stage- trusting your partners is key! With Farah as evidence, do your research beforehand and you shall be quite happy with the end result.

Nadeem was the perfect complement to her bubbly attitude. More of a technical sort, he allowed Farah to work with more of the details and prioritized the fulfillment of her wishes. He was a stylish, friendly and very personable groom. Far from uninvolved, his laid- back attitude was an invaluable asset on the day of the ceremony as it rained much more than expected. While their photo shoot was impacted, his good humor allowed all to pull through with a smile and that is exactly the kind of mindset one needs on one of the most important days of their life. Nothing was going to get in the way. If anything did…it was the constant reminder that this was a couple who were going to be happy, organized and always creative for a very VERY long time.

Their reception was full of colors and joy. The upbeat program with some beautiful performances and eye catching act by Fire Thrower left the audience breathless.

  • Prashant + Prema – Destination Wedding – India – Official Trailer

Just a few months before their wedding, enthusiastic groom Prashant contacted us all the way from Kohlapour, India to see if it was possible to hire us to film his wedding. Usually, we ask that local couples give us notice at least 9-10 months in advance of their wedding date, so Prashant’s proposal immediately sent us into an exciting trajectory of planning and packing.

It is impossible to travel such distances and not be persuaded to capture the locale, architecture and wildlife. They encompass a multitude of expressions, sights and sounds that are at the very heart of indian weddings. Prashant and his bride Prema, we discovered, were a very romantic couple and there are scenes in this official trailer that embellish it with a particularly appropriate Bollywood feel .

Due to her demanding schedule, we did not have the chance to meet Prema until the wedding, but Prashant was an impressive groom for taking the reins in organizing their ideas, communicating and coordinating with us. When we met him in person, we learned that he was a humble member of a very large family. Many of the festivities, including the wedding ceremony, were held at his home and this added a very loving, familiar feel to the mood of the events.

Together, Prashant and Prema upped the ante to the wedding weekend with a phenomenally choreographed performance at their Sangeet. Contemporary sounds fused with traditional colors and tastes- it was truly a feast for the senses. Now, millions of miles and memories away, here is a taste of that majestic weekend.

  • Sameera + Jagandeep – Reception

Film-Style has always had the unique pleasure of working with interfaith couples. Covering an interfaith marriage is loads of fun, not just because of the different cultural and religious traditions that are all wrapped up in one big happy package  but also because it’s a rewarding experience to be able to see two very different worldviews, encompassed within those cultural and religious traditions, become as one. It’s a ‘feel good’ kind of wedding that enables and embraces differences even as it reconciles them within the institution of a marriage.

Sameera (the Muslim bride) and Jagan (the Sikh groom) proved to us once again this beauty of an interfaith union. On July 8th, this couple held their Sangeet/Holud where their respective cultural traditions were paid tribute to “desi-style,” with a lot of dancing and a lot of performances. And on July 9th, their respective religious traditions were honored and upheld at their respective religious ceremonies, with a lot of love and respect from their families.

We wish this couple great success in the future and a lot of happy new traditions in the making. Cheers!

  • Destination Winnipeg – Suri + Ruben – Reception

In June of 2010, we received a phone call just as we were closing office for the day. A Suri Dhaliwal from Winnipeg was calling to inquire about our Cinematography & Photography services. Normally, we request the client to call back during business hours, but on a whim, I asked Suri to call my cell 20 minutes later.

Twenty minutes later, I was out shopping with the family when Suri called back accompanied by her fiancée, Ruben Karla, on speaker phone. While my wife carried on with the shopping, I wandered around aimlessly, immersed as I was in the conversation, which lasted about 30 minutes. Even though I’d never actually met the couple (not yet that is), they struck me straightaway as clientele for whom we would no doubt do something very special.

Two months later, when the couple flew down to Toronto to visit Suri’s sister, we met up with them, even though it was our busiest weekend of the year. I had 45 minutes to spare in between a ceremony and a reception taking place at the Bellevue Manor in Vaughan. Suri and Ruben drove down there, where we discussed among other things their wedding

While we were in Winnipeg for 6 days, our team provided coverage for the couple’s pre-wedding events including mehndi, mayyun and chunni rasm, which was later followed by the Sikh ceremony and reception.

We always feel that getting to know the couple is the most important part of our service and in Ruben and Suri’s case it was no different. It was because we spent such a great deal of time with them that their chemistry translated onto the screen as beautifully as it did.

  • Jason + Indi – Next Day Edit

At each and every wedding, a specific event becomes a most memorable highlight of the wedding itself and the major underlying theme in our same-day or next-day edits.

At Indi and Jason’s wedding that highlight was the “Money at the Door” game. The game, for those unfamiliar with it, is similar to the “Chinese Door Game.” Following the marriage ceremony, the groom, along with his entourage of male friends and family, arrives at the bride’s house to “retrieve” his bride, as it were. His entrance is blocked by the bride’s entourage of female friends and family. Passage is only permitted when the groom hands over cash (large sums only) to the bridal party. Traditionally, the game takes place immediately after the ceremony, but in the case of this bride and groom, it took place much later and went on for a lot longer.

The groom and his entourage made the bridal party wait for over an hour before gracing them with their presence. If that wasn’t enough to annoy the ladies, the gentlemen then went on to play cards, have drinks and generally have a good time, making the ladies wait even longer for the request of passage. But the ladies were opponents on par. Watch for yourself, their method of reprisal.

  • Umair + Adeeba – Next Day Edit

Every couple adds a unique flair of venue, to the universal event that a wedding is. Umair and Adeeba held their Mehndi and Valima events at a banquet hall like every other couple. But unlike every other couple, they decided to celebrate their Nikkah ceremony (the vows ceremony) in their backyard. A marquee housed the event, with close friends and family in attendance. It was an unusual venue, but no less striking than any other that we’ve encountered.

Umair and Adeeba found out about us at Fahad and Khatidja’s wedding and ever since, had their hearts set on our cinematography services. While Umair was pretty laid back (as most grooms tend to be), Adeeba knew exactly what she wanted and conveyed her ideas without hesitation. Coming from a family of five sisters, she drew inspiration from each of them and brought together multiple ideas with sophistication. And Umair, as the eldest in his family, took on the responsibility of ensuring that everything went smoothly and according to plan. These two make quite a team:)

Here is their Next Day Edit.
