  • Saif + Samia – Next/Same Day Edit

A Wedding is about about two people who are in love and share similar yet opposite interests. Traditionally, the bride is more keen and interested in minor details as it’s the day she has a been looking forward to for a very long time.

However, things are changing now. Lately, there are few weddings that we have done where grooms have taken a keen interest in all the details That being said, Saif is one of those rare grooms whose eyes were glowing with happiness from the initial consultation. To backtrack, he was in one of the most memorable performances that we captured 2 years ago. He did a performance at his cousin’s wedding which led him to meet Samia.

He wanted everything to go perfect from the very beginning. Yes a groom. Normally that’s the bride’s department. He is one of the nicest and detail oriented guys we have ever met. From the grande entrance of mehndi to the unexpected ride for his wedding entrance, he wanted everything to be different and to our knowledge, it certainly was. Kudos to him.

Enough about Saif now let’s talk about Samia. If there is one person that Saif can be with it’s Samia. She literary drives and inspires him in every way. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that. It’s all in his eyes. And if that becomes the basis of every relationship, nothing can come between the two souls.

In short, a true gem of a couple and we are extremely proud to have the chance to cover this fabulous wedding.

  • Zainab + Bilal – Next/Same Day Edit

Every south asian wedding is filled with colours, joys and smiles all around. However, there is one portion that is very emotional and can make the girl and her side of the family to cry. Some of you may know it as Doli others Vidaai or to some it’s called Rukhsati. Different words, but all have same meaning. This is where bride bids farewell to her family.

During all this, normally, the groom side is happy as they are gaining someone special but still portray themselves as serious due to the nature of situation. Having done so many of these weddings, we have seen almost everything but never seen the groom and his side of the family in tears as well. And believe it or not that even got to us.

Wedding is composed of everything from bride and groom to decor to the hall but mostly it’s the people that make the event memorable.
Zainab and Bilal’s friends and families are simply gems. Everyone from their immediate family to in-laws to cousins all showed so much devotion and love. Each and everyone did their utmost best to make their wedding unforgettable.

And what to say about Bilal and Zainab. Sometimes, words are not enough to justify someone’s traits. And literary we are speechless.

  • Aman + Parv – Next Day Edit

When was the last time you had a bride designing her own wedding outfits. That’s right, the bride (Aman) designed not only her wedding outfit but also 3 other outfits pertaining to her events. She then took those designs to India and had them made.

If that doesn’t impress you then get this. She had a strong hand in the decor for her reception. She made hundreds of paper cranes, designed flowers and many other details to make her dream day become reality.

Now even though, Aman did all this, what about the groom (Parv). Parv did what any good man would do. He supported her vision.
Aman and Parv’s wedding although very simple had a certain elegance to it. Their outfits and events literary were reflection of their personalities. To add to that, they had one heck of a wedding party. The bridesmaid and groom’s men were extremely outspoken contrasting to the couple’s soft spoken personality. They did and said the silliest things as you would witness in this Next Day Edit.

We have always believed that every wedding is about everything but nothing. Remember how everyone loved Seinfeld back in the day with absolutely no plot but different stories emerging into one. We feel weddings are more or less like that. They are all the same but it’s the things that take place from early morning until late at night that defines it. May it be the grand entrance or the dancing baraat or Much Ado About Nothing

  • Justin + Kajal – Reception Trailer

When a couple sits down with us for consultation, our goal is to get to know them as much as possible. In our 1-2 hour consultation, we like to give as much as information possible about who we are and try to get out the nitty gritty details about the couple, their story and their interests.

When Justin and Kajal met us, one thing that we learned was that both were playing opposite gender roles. Whereas Justin was so organized and detailed about his version of the story, Kajal was the exact opposite. And we tried to tell their wedding story with that mind. If you understand the lyrics, it clearly represents that story is mostly from Kajal’s perspective.

  • Amit + Priya – Next Day Edit

We met Priya almost 3 years ago at her brother’s Shawn and his wife Sapna’s concept film back in 2009. Incidentally, that was the first time Amit met Priya as well. Small world.

We have known Priya for 3 years now and between now and then have met her at countless weddings. She is a shy, down to earth and simple girl who expects nothing from life but is always willing to give. As for Amit, we began seeing him at various weddings as well as time progressed. He is full of life, fun and quite opposite from Priya. Not that opposite but enough for them to be 100% compatible with each other.

Our most challenging task is to get to know the couple as a couple after they sign up with us. In this case, it was a little different. We already knew Priya very well but it was Amit who we grew to learn about in the past year. And believe it or not that’s always challenging. It’s easy to get to know two people and their tastes towards life, each other a lot faster but somehow very difficult when you already know one person and you have to get to know the other person separately. But we did and it was an experience getting to know him. He is one of those guys who is always looking to be better at what they do.

The wedding festivities kicked off few days before the grande ceremony itself. Both families are so full of warmth that we blended as their own. From the heroic entrance of the groom to the beautiful bride, everything about this wedding was perfect. The people, the decor, the chemistry all clicked.

  • Liza + Basil – Toronto Wedding

You may remember Liza + Basil Royal Nigerian Wedding which was held back in October of 2010 over here.

Although, they had a pretty big wedding back in Abuja that included 2 different ceremonies and reception, Liza and Basil wanted to have a wedding for those who couldn’t fly to Abuja, Nigeria with them.

Filled with popcorn, candies, the Toronto Wedding was extremely glamourous yet somehow a mellow at the same time.
You may know Liza from Say Yes to the Dress episode. She picked her Wedding Gown from Kleinfelds.

  • Shawn + Satyma – Next Day Edit

One of our last couples of 2011, Shawn + Satyma intimate yet grand set of events took place back in November. Starting from their big engagement party leading up to the wedding day and reception, everything about their wedding had something unique to offer.

Both of them are very close to their parents, especially Satyma being the only child of her parents. And we tried to capture that in our wedding film.

Upon our first meeting, we realized that Satyma was very particular about everything while Shawn although seemed that way initially, wasn’t so much by the end of the wedding. Shawn is a very calm and down to earth kind of a guy and compliments well with Satyma who is no different.

We had a great time capturing their special day.

  • Destination Winnipeg – Suri + Ruben – Reception

In June of 2010, we received a phone call just as we were closing office for the day. A Suri Dhaliwal from Winnipeg was calling to inquire about our Cinematography & Photography services. Normally, we request the client to call back during business hours, but on a whim, I asked Suri to call my cell 20 minutes later.

Twenty minutes later, I was out shopping with the family when Suri called back accompanied by her fiancée, Ruben Karla, on speaker phone. While my wife carried on with the shopping, I wandered around aimlessly, immersed as I was in the conversation, which lasted about 30 minutes. Even though I’d never actually met the couple (not yet that is), they struck me straightaway as clientele for whom we would no doubt do something very special.

Two months later, when the couple flew down to Toronto to visit Suri’s sister, we met up with them, even though it was our busiest weekend of the year. I had 45 minutes to spare in between a ceremony and a reception taking place at the Bellevue Manor in Vaughan. Suri and Ruben drove down there, where we discussed among other things their wedding

While we were in Winnipeg for 6 days, our team provided coverage for the couple’s pre-wedding events including mehndi, mayyun and chunni rasm, which was later followed by the Sikh ceremony and reception.

We always feel that getting to know the couple is the most important part of our service and in Ruben and Suri’s case it was no different. It was because we spent such a great deal of time with them that their chemistry translated onto the screen as beautifully as it did.

  • Nicole + Jonathan – Same Day Edit

Nicole and Jonathan’s wedding was a double ceremony affair. A Hindu/Christian Guyanese Wedding that featured the rich colour of a traditional Hindu wedding and the stunning architectural beauty of a Church.

Film-Style’s approach to this one was a little different from the rest. It is our creative policy that the music accompanying the footage reflect (and reflect well) the bride and groom’s heritage. As a fusion wedding, Bollywood simply wouldn’t have been suitable, nor Western music alone. The music had to be a fusion as well. Thus, the selection was an English song with some lovely Indian musical elements.

  • Jason + Indi – Next Day Edit

At each and every wedding, a specific event becomes a most memorable highlight of the wedding itself and the major underlying theme in our same-day or next-day edits.

At Indi and Jason’s wedding that highlight was the “Money at the Door” game. The game, for those unfamiliar with it, is similar to the “Chinese Door Game.” Following the marriage ceremony, the groom, along with his entourage of male friends and family, arrives at the bride’s house to “retrieve” his bride, as it were. His entrance is blocked by the bride’s entourage of female friends and family. Passage is only permitted when the groom hands over cash (large sums only) to the bridal party. Traditionally, the game takes place immediately after the ceremony, but in the case of this bride and groom, it took place much later and went on for a lot longer.

The groom and his entourage made the bridal party wait for over an hour before gracing them with their presence. If that wasn’t enough to annoy the ladies, the gentlemen then went on to play cards, have drinks and generally have a good time, making the ladies wait even longer for the request of passage. But the ladies were opponents on par. Watch for yourself, their method of reprisal.
