As part of our tradition, we welcome to you to witness some of our amazing couples between the year 2013-2016. 3 months in the making, this 6 minute piece took us lots of planning, resources and story boarding. In the end, it was very difficult to leave out some other amazing moments and clips but here is the best of the best.

Jaan Pehchan Ho – Concept Music Video
This concept production was a perfect window into the personalities of our couple, Rishi and Jehan. Although they are both busy professionals with schedules that don’t allow for an excess of leisure time, the key to their success is the manner in which they wholeheartedly delve into the tasks before them. Much like the roles they have in reality, these two jumped into their characters with energy, spirit and a rocking sense of fun.
With a vintage flair, the choice of filters in this feature reflected the roaring era of the 60’s, notorious for that famous swiveling of the hips known popularly as the “Twist”. It’s a dance move that lights up the screen in this little number. Of course, no concept film is quite complete without its costume and location changes, props and in this case- even instruments! The couple made sure that the selected song would be enhanced by the use of these, and the result was nothing short of nostalgic.
We can assure you this was one for the books. Indeed, the couple had as much fun making this video as it looked!

Concept – Stop Motion Animated Film – THE WINNING BET
I always say, if I wasn’t a filmmaker, I would have been a musician. If that did not work out- then definitely an animator. Producing animated films is a very creative and fun process but also an exhaustive one; in particular, stop-motion films. These are essentially comprised of thousands of photos seamlessly woven to form a motion. One second would comprise of 24 frames, which would equate to 24 photos. To show movement, you use one frame, then move the object and take another shot – continuing the process in that manner. What’s fascinating, is that your objects are coming to life right before your eyes. And so begins our journey…
It was around 7 pm last December 3rd; a damp, rainy night in Victoria B.C. As I relaxed after a long day of production on a personal project that I am still working on called “Leap in Time”, I sat down to continue writing the script for my other project, a 10 minute stop- motion animated short that has a working title of “The Wall”. I remember, it was the little kid in me that pushed me to move forward with this genre of film and the thought suddenly struck me, “Wouldn’t it be cool if Film Style Weddings could do a stop motion animation feature for a couple?”
In that moment, a phone’s ringing pierced my silent marvelling at the idea. I received a phone call from my clients, Kiran and Nitin. They wanted to discuss a concept film for their wedding. The couple immediately conveyed to me that they were interested in doing some sort of animated film for their entrance. My jaw must have hit the floor and I knew right then that this would work, especially because I was entertaining the very idea only moments before.
What transpired from the creative triumph of that evening was an intense 6-month journey of writing, pre-production, and post-production of “The Winning Bet”. It was one of the most challenging projects I have ever worked on but at the same time, I’ve never had so much fun.
Two weeks ago the film was screened at the wedding, and the response was nothing short of rewarding. The director and the child in me, were both very fulfilled.

Concept Film: Let’s Explore London
As we travel through the world to produce concept and wedding films for couples, one thing that stays consistent in our experiences is the tourist observation. We always want to integrate a bit of that in our concept films but including the couple’s story or personality being the integral part.
During the last eight months, we skyped with Ayesha and her fiance over a dozen times to get to know their story and personality. At times, it was a challenge for us to come up with something unique that reflects them as well. In our countless conversations, one aspect that stood out the most was their busy careers and travelling schedule. They traveled quite a lot for their work, one thing they never did together was explore London. And we took that very basic idea and turned into something very entertaining that we feel is a look inside London.

‘Being Competitive’ – A Concept Film – Sajnoor + Emanjit
Our job always becomes a little bit easier when creative couples or those already in the industry approach us for their wedding related events. Hence, the case of Saj & Em. Saj is a professional photographer who runs PhotoKitch.
Saj + Em recently got engaged and organized a 700 people engagement party in a matter of weeks. And after finalizing venue and other details, they came to us 10 days before their engagement event. It’s one thing for us to book an event and another to do a little concept film within a week. We are a firm believer of anything is possible as long as resources are there but to have 10 days to come up with a concept, film it and then edit it is pushing a little. And we told that to Saj and Em but their motto was that they have do this whatever it takes.
With a very little planning and developing the concept as we filmed, it was a unique task to achieve. -
‘Meeting at Pizza Hut’ – Saj + Jessica’s Story
Every couple’s story is unique. We have worked with couples who have met on a plane, elevator, online and of course the ever popular through families. And we do our best to tell their stories based on couple’s personalities.
Saj + Jessica’s story is unlike any other. They met at Pizza Hut. As simple as it sounds, it was challenging for us to come up with a concept for them. But sometimes simplicity is the best option. We had the couple tell their story and act out most of the part, except the proposal. That was real and Jessica didn’t have a clue about it until wedding reception when she saw this film.
To add to that, the couple also wanted to make grand entrance for their reception. Something that hasn’t been done before and that they did. We integrated both their story and entrance in one film.

Vadiyyan (Valleys) – Concept Film – (Filmed in Norway)
We have always been blessed to work some of the most amazing couples around the world. Whether you call it pure luck or simply a perfect connection or whatever else, one thing is certain. It would never be possible if we didn’t have thorough consultations with them.
Ambreen and Javed contacted us from Oslo, Norway to cover their wedding in July of this year. They emailed us and as always our first response before anything was, let’s skype. And that we did. We video conferenced for good 45 minutes and learned about their story, explained our side of things and so on.
That then lead dozens of email discussions and few more skype meetings. During all this, Ambreen and Javed also showed desire for using our services to a create a concept film around their story and the scenic Norway.
It took us 3-4 days to film this concept film entitled Vadiyyan and then we literary had 1 day to put it all together, so it can be shown as an introduction video on their shaadi day
Ambreen, Javed and our team literary spent 9 out of 10 days together in Norway and we had a great time. We went to some beautiful locations including their university where they first met. We did takes after takes but despite having met us for just few days, Ambreen and Javed did a terrific job in putting their creative side in front of camera. Part of it also worked because we portrayed who they were not someone else and that’s so important when making a concept or wedding film.

Tasveer – Performed by Amit Paul – Teaser
We met Priya almost 3 years ago at her brother’s Shawn and his wife Sapna’s concept film back in 2009. Incidentally, that was the first time Amit met Priya as well. Small world.
We have known Priya for 3 years now and between now and then have met her at countless weddings. She is a shy, down to earth and simple girl who expects nothing from life but is always willing to give. As for Amit, we began seeing him at various weddings as well as time progressed. He is full of life, fun and quite opposite from Priya. Not that opposite but enough for them to be 100% compatible with each other.
Our most challenging task is to get to know the couple as a couple after they sign up with us. In this case, it was a little different. We already knew Priya very well but it was Amit who we grew to learn about in the past year. And believe it or not that’s always challenging. It’s easy to get to know two people and their tastes towards life, each other a lot faster but somehow very difficult when you already know one person and you have to get to know the other person separately. But we did and it was an experience getting to know him. He is one of those guys who is always looking to be better at what they do.
The birth of ‘Tasveer’ came into play when Amit told us that there is this one song from film ‘Pardes’ that he has always loved and wanted to see if we could do something with it. Upon listening to him, we knew he wasn’t professional but he had the potential to do something which was a very risky move. That is have him sing. He agreed to the idea.
From that point on, we hired professional services of a singer to make him sound better and tasteful. We all know that professional singers takes years to become great at their vocals and didn’t expect that but despite that, we feel Amit did a reasonably well job with the time at hand.
Watch the full and final version of ‘Tasveer’ the week of April 8th, 2012
